I've done all that...rocking it was one of the first things I tried. Then my neighbor tapped it a couple of times with his "equalizer"...a pick-axe handle.
So the next step, of course, is to "pop-start" it. Tomorrow. My neighbor, though willing to help, is not very knowledgeable when it comes to vehicles. He thought the alternator was the starter...:o]

"He thought the alternator was the starter." They are designing vehicles, or engines, where the alternator is the starter, but it won't be belt-driven. On those power plants, they plan to increase the operating voltage to perhaps forty-eight volts.
I don't know if I want to predict this or not, but it should be possible to connect two such vehicles in series to operate many standard kitchen resistance-heating appliances such as electric skillets or coffee makers. One could do this with twelve-volt cars, but it would take about eight of them.
