Because it makes the rather arrogant claim to know what is going on inside the head of atheists. Because it puts words into atheists mouths. Because it purports to tell them what they should believe instead of what they do believe.
Like I said, I hate reading it when non-Christians do the same thing to Christians, too.
hristians don't constantly bring suit against atheists, protesting that their beliefs are offensive. Why do atheists so often bring suit against Christians, or spend their lives crusading against religion?
I largely share your sentiment here, but that doesn't make the article good.
I don't suppose his answer accounts for all atheists The author would sure like you to believe it does.
When you show me the atheists protesting "Muslim" week in CA public schools, Jewish and Muslim holiday decorations on public land in Palm Beach, Florida (as well as other pockets around the US), and start expelling students who wear a Muslim headscarf to school, than I will agree with your criticism about the author making assumptions about what atheists think. Because it seems all their efforts are focused against one religion, I think a good argument could be made for the author being on the right track.
No, it makes a reasonable inference from the FACT that atheists target their ire only against CHRISTIANITY. That suggests to the author - and to me - that atheists have a nagging sensation that Christianity is TRUE,and they don't like that one damn bit.
