House OKs Budget Cuts, ANWR Oil Drilling

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent 14 minutes ago

The House voted to cut a thin slice off federal deficits and sink oil drills into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge early Monday, quelling Democratic opposition in a marathon struggle ending near dawn.

The votes sent both bills to the Senate, where the GOP leadership vowed to clear them for President Bush's signature with a year-end flourish.

Bush sounded eager. "We must restrain government spending. And I'm pleased that the House today has voted to rein in entitlement spending by $40 billion, and I urge the United States Senate to join them," he said at a White House news conference.

Democrats were scathing. "As the Bible teaches us, to minister to the needs of God's creation is an act of worship, to ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us," said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California. "Let us vote no on this budget as an act of worship and for America's children."

Both year-end bills were crafted to satisfy GOP conservatives who hold sway in the House and Senate. Yet both also were tempered to hold the support of party moderates whose votes are necessary for passage over opposition of Democrats, some of whom have threatened to filibuster the ANWR measure.

The Alaska oil provision was grafted onto a $453 billion spending bill for the Pentagon, a measure that also reflected conservative priorities with a 1 percent spending cut across hundreds of federal programs. Yet the same legislation included an additional $29 billion in funding for victims of Hurricane Katrina, as well as an extra installment of low-income heating assistance for the poor.

This is the second major bible quote I've seen her make. It's just so transparently phony.

Someone should have fired back with the warning about worshipping the creation instead of the creator.

I'm surprised beetles didn't start crawling out of her eyes
as her head began to spin around.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (Genesis 1:26)

The national socialist democrat party is much the same as the national socialist party that Hitler took over in Germany in the 1930's. And Pelosi is but one of many of the new age neo nazis who all hate the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
America needs to be energy independent and there is but one way, more drilling in the Gulf and Alaska, more oil refineries need to be built, more nuclear power plants need to be built.
In order for this to happen, the democrat party needs to be run out of office nationwide and the EPA (and the Dept of Education terminated to save our children's education)be destroyed.

Ted Stevens tacked ANWAR onto the defense spending bill for the Senate as well.

"Ms. PELOSI. Mr. Speaker, I thank the gentleman from Michigan (Mr. Conyers), the ranking member, for yielding me this time. I rise in strong opposition to the so-called Partial Birth Abortion Act.

Mr. Speaker, everyone in this room knows that if this Congress succeeds in this misguided attempt to play doctor, not one abortion will be prevented. This is a very sad debate today. Abortion is a failure in every respect. We want to keep them safe, and we want to keep them legal.

But when they are medically necessary to save the life of the mother or to protect her future fertility, would not one want one's daughter to have that option or one's wife? It is so sad also, because this body has been prevented from debating the Hoyer-Greenwood substitute or amendment which would declare what we all believe, that no one wants late-term abortions, and that we would only agree to this procedure in the case of life of the mother or future fertility of the mother.

So to bring charges against a doctor for saving a mother's life or her future fertility and the family that she would like to have is cruel and unusual punishment. I urge my colleagues to vote against this legislation."

Isn't this the same woman who would have us not mention God in our public sectors? Have these people no shame? Nevermind, don't answer that.
