Gee and just the other day there was an article posted on FR that personal wealth is the highest it's ever been in the United States.
And for anyone who wants to know what Pelosi really thinks about tax breaks, read "Do as I say". Although she's publicly said that she thinks wealthy Americans should have to pay more in taxes, she and her husband who are worth approx. $50M (minimum), have chosen to find tax loopholes that involve overseas incorporations of companies, etc., all to avoid paying taxes. They pay far less than most Americans in their income bracket.
Pelosi also endorses unions but when it comes to her personal corporations (a vineyard to name one), she and her husband use immigrant labor and none of her organizations are unionized.

She's either too ignorant or too stupid--or both--to merit her salary and perks.

Let's see - I got a raise this year; I have a good job; my 401(K) is doing well; oh, wait, maybe I'm doing well because I don't sit on my can and wait for 'the gummint' to provide my next welfare check. Gee, Nancy, think there might be a wider world than San Francisco, owned and operated by the homeless??

We really need a law that states that all elected politicians are considered to be under oath anytime they speak in public. |

I am not sure I would want to be in the position of having to convince Americans the the economy is not good. Its like Pelosi is screamin: "nevermind the low unemployment rate, nevermind the GDP, just focus on the bad stuff (that I am not even sure the significance of)."
While the trade deficit is an area of concern, it isn't something that your everyday American will care about (even though they should) so long as they have a job.
To: ncountylee
Does Pelosi not realize that the federal budget has very little to do with the economy as a whole? A federal deficit does NOT hurt the average American.

I can't believe that Sea Hag Pelosi actually spewed out 4 nonsensical paragraphs without using her favorite catch phrase "Culture of Corruption"

It's hard to know how to respond to this. Anything Pelosi says can't be taken seriously.
To: ncountylee
Heck, even the MSM has taken to admitting the economy is strong - what a disconnect from her "base".

5% Unemployment Nan. Full employment, the "greatest economy ever" when your boy BJ Clinton hit the that mark. 10 straight quarters of better then 3% GDP growth, best economic performance since the 1980s. (That's right Nan the Liar, better then your mythical "Clinton Economy"). I thought Democrats were being too stupid for words by being on the wrong side of Iraq. NOW you are going to place your selves on the wrong side of the Economy ALSO? That goes from stupid to insane.

One way to decrease the deficit is to tax only loud mouth liberals who want to raise taxes. Up yours with someone else's, Pelosi.

But what is the percentage compared to the GDP etc.. and how does this compare to the past?
Any econ types know if this is a real way to look at it, instead of just the number by itself?
