BETHLEHEM, Pa. - As Lehigh University students prepared for final exams this week, they found themselves grappling with the news that the sophomore class president had been arrested for allegedly robbing a bank. "I didn't believe it when I first heard it," Kathryn Susman, an 18- year-old freshman engineering student from Hereford, Md., said Monday.
The robbery occurred Friday afternoon. Authorities said Greg Hogan, 19, handed a note to a teller at a Wachovia Bank branch, saying he had a gun and wanted money.
Hogan, the son of a Baptist minister, was picked up at his fraternity house later that evening and charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Police said he got away with $2,871.
One of his frat brothers, Patrick Thornton, described Hogan as "very energetic," the sort of student who would cheer on the college football team wearing body paint.

Why it necessary to mention what this guy's father does?
(not directed at you).
My bet is that either the kid is bi-polar and had his first psychotic episode...or he's a bored journalism major.
"What I want to know is how these people could afford to live in the tony community..."
Good question. I'm a Baptist P.K. and we were always in the poverty level. My P.K. cousins, too. Zero money.
This story made the local news in northeast Ohio. The perp graduated from Hudson High School, one of the wealthier communities in the State, so it's probably safe to assume that his family was paying his way at Lehigh.
Reminds me of that song. "the only one that could ever teach me was the son of a preacher man" I forgot who sang it , think it was in the late 60's.
Dusty Springfield.
The Church is affiliated with the liberal American Baptist Convention, not the Southern Baptists. It appears to be too small for a web site - no link is given in the American Baptist online directory.
That's not what the headline reads.
Please use original titles.
"Interesting that the media seems to go out of it's way to acknowledge that the boy was not only the son of a preacher, but a Baptist preacher.
Just strikes me as odd."
The sons and daughters of clergymen have ALWAYS been under extra scrutiny. "Preacher's daughter" promiscuity jokes and reputations have been around for ages. This headline is nothing new.
Looks like they lived in Seven Hills. The father was a city councilman there. From your link, "and has served as a city councilman in Seven Hills, Ohio."
"Interesting that the media seems to go out of it's way to acknowledge that the boy was not only the son of a preacher, but a Baptist preacher.
Just strikes me as odd."
Actually, upon second reading, I take my earlier response back. It was the POSTER who mentioned the dad's occupation, not the media. Media only focused on the perp's status in life as class president, which is newsworthy considering he just held up a bank.
Shame on the poster!
Already voted in the last 24 hours.
It's falling behind in second now.
BTTT
Worng thread. D@mn them Netscape Tabs!
Ha Ha ,...or perhaps it was a fraternity prank? He had to know he was identifiable...my guess is that his defense will be that his fraternity made him do it.
OOPS. Got it. Personally I thought that was more notable than the other one (college president) but I'll remember that for future.
This is true but this area is an OLD MONEY area so that really wouldn't apply.
Agree totally. Cain & Abel come to mind.
