Well, in a way a celebration would be in order. Not of the execution itself but of a small victory over those who support murder, from Tookie to Fidel Castro.
The 9th Circus has so far not been a friend to Tookie but I would not put it past them to step in this time tomorrow (with about 20 min to go before execution).
Just what I don't want to see on FR.
The man needs to die...no question. I just hate the circus you're making of it.
I think the 9th Circus is done. The California Supreme Court is done. I think that the USSC is all that is left. Well, that and, of course, Arnold.
I understand your position.
I did not expect rioting but some officials have expressed concerns so it's anyone's guess what Arnold's hearing. This might be shrewd political public ploy to avoid anarchy on Tookie's behalf. Such folks may not want to tick off the governor who is supposed to be in deep soul-searching thought over clemency. This might be one instance where Arnold's image is a plus.
The jury has spoken, the appeal process has taken its course, and I will not interfere. May God have mercy on the soul of Stanley Williams.
Didn't mean "you" you...meant "they."
Thanks for taking it the right way.

I must be COMPLETELY incoherent by now...
"All we are saaaying---
Is let Tookie liiivve---"
BAAARRFFF!!!
> Arnold better not dare stick his fat head in the middle of this.
Amen. Thankfully, Arnold need do nothing at all. He need only shrug, and watch. Greater judicial minds than his have fronted up, and generously offered to take the decision out of his hands.
If he has any political nous at all, he will see this as a Gift from the gods and act accordingly. My gut tells me that the Governator is astute: he will never die in the ditch for filthy stinking trash like Tookie. Why should he?
"Tookie, the hangman awaits... hee hee hee!"
I do not normally take pleasure in the death of the wicked, as the Bible exhorts us. For this slimeball I am deliberately making an exception.
(any Freepers in Auckland: first round's on me on the day Tookie gasps his last. Our Nation, and our children, need jokers like the Crips in NZ about as much as we need a dose of the clap.)
A group of people heard singing on the local news:
"All we are saaaying---
Is let Tookie liiivve---"
BARF is right!!! How 'bout this one, -
DIsco infernNo, BURRRN BABY BURN
Tookie already got his clemency. The treacherous murdering scumbag was allowed to live and feast on the public teat for 26 years.
Time to take out the trash...
Agreed. Go to any major city and see how many vets are sleepin on park benches.
Doesn't sound to me like justice has been very well served here.
Yeah, we'll all write angry e-mails if he does. Let's get real, he never was a real politician to begin with and I don't think he'll care if his "career" as a politician is over.
I do not normally take pleasure in the death of the wicked
You just did, so you've done before.
>> I do not normally take pleasure in the death of the wicked
> You just did, so you've done before.
Yyyyeaahhh... I did say "do not normally", not "never". And so your point is???
For the avoidance of all doubt, I made an exception for the evil Timothy McVeigh, as well. The world is a better place without him. News of his death did not worry me in the slightest.
I may well make other exceptions, in the future. Normally, I feel sorry when someone loses their life. There are, however, some varmints on this planet that I just can't seem to feel sympathy for. Sorry!
Come on Arnold... just say those magic words...
HASTA LA VISTA, BABY !!!!!
a mixed bag of irony... maria shriver-swartzenegger bought a large part in tookie's children stories to help promote his anti-gang dealings... now if arnold acts to save his life, there is a definite conflict of interest...
if tookie is executed, the stock in his existing portfolio goes up benefitting maria in the short term, but hindering a long term investment... oh the irony.
and yes, this is all speculation on my part... but that never stopped the LA times...
