It was stupid from their first commercial. It has a soldier running one direction and tanks going the other. It appeared like he was running away from the action.

Morning DJ,
Well said, and to the point.

Something else funny about that first commercial...the guy they featured in it was hyped because he was trying out for Special Forces. I believe he went on to wash out of the training. Twice.

hehe that's one of my favorite quotes from Patton.
Outstanding Leader. God what we could do today with him in command in Iraq.

As for the beret, it is with the greatest disappointment that the full Army still wears the Ranger head gear. Brown on Rangers looks like crap and I hope will one day return to black.
It is something that pissed me off to no end. It cost me a lost earn mine (Ranger Class 13-87). I wore it proudly for 6 years.

Perhaps they are switching to the far more catchier slogan, An Army of Two.Not bad. The ad series could reflect modern reality and show an attractive young woman in tight fitting cammo holding an M-16 saying "come share my foxhole tonight."

That beret change was a load of manure. I called it "Project Monica". Anyone else remember that the first major order of black berets was made in China?
To: SJSAMPLE
You were watching TV.
That never really happened.
How about this ad:
Marines: First to fight.
Well, except for:
The American Revolutionary War
The Civil War
World War One
World War Two
Korea
Vietnam
Grenada
Panama
Desert Storm
OIF
Ouch!

BTW, when the Army was formed 5 months ahead of the Marine Corps, June 14, 1775, the government decided, hey, we need someone who can swim! Presto: Marine Corps.

The Marines have cool commercials.
The Army of One was the dumbest slogan in recent memory. The video game sounds dumb too. You probably graduate basic training by pressing two buttons and then you are a tank commander. So then you join the army and end up operating a ROWPU unit.

btw, if you want to see what Marines, Army and the others do in their spare time in Iraq and Afghanistan, check out this web site: www.nowthatsfu**edup.com.
Vulgar, but they seem to be having a good time. Military in Iraq and Afghanistan get free membership by posting pictures of themselves, almost all G rated in that case. Much of the rest of the site is not G rated.

I think it was a dumb slogan. "Be all you can be" was far better. Actually, I liked Uncle Sam saying, "I need you." Like they used in WW I. But Be all that you can be does have a good sound to it.

It was in the early 70's and it was a Marine Corps ad.
There was a picture of a Marine DI giving someone a royal a**chewing.
On that picture it said "We don't promose you a rose garden."
