Focus on the Family Severs Ties with Wells Fargo (bank advances radical homosexual agenda)
FOCUS ON THE FAMILY ^ | December 1, 2005

Posted on 12/05/2005 4:54:18 AM PST by Liz

Following comments made on today’s “Focus on the Family” radio broadcast regarding the organization’s decision to end its banking relationship with Wells Fargo, Focus President and CEO Jim Daly issued the following statement: “Focus on the Family has elected to end its banking relationship with Wells Fargo, motivated primarily by the bank’s ongoing efforts to advance the radical homosexual agenda. These efforts are in direct opposition to the underlying principles and purpose of Focus, and thus a decision of conscience had to be made, and a stand taken.

Earlier this year we learned that Wells Fargo gave a matching gift to a pro-homosexual group to enable it to raise more money to fight organizations like our own. As one of Wells Fargo’s customers, we objected, and we received no satisfactory resolution from the bank’s corporate office.

The homosexual group’s web page said this: “Incredible news: Wells Fargo has offered to help support GLAAD’s fight for equality against the Anti-Gay industry by matching your tax-deductible contribution dollar for dollar.”

We realize that if we dealt only with companies that reflect our Christian values we would have a hard time doing business with Corporate America. That said, when our bank allows proceeds from our business to be used to impede our work, we must object, even if it inconveniences us in our professional relationships.

We at Focus on the Family respect the worth and dignity of every human being. We are not attacking the gay individual, nor are we singling out Wells Fargo employees for censure. We had the opportunity to work with many Wells Fargo staff while in relationship with the bank, and we know firsthand the good job they do. However, we feel that the aggressive agenda of the homosexual movement and its activists is harmful to families, and we believe it is time to stand up and fight that. Our decision is not personal, but principled, and we trust our constituents and others will respect it.”

Embracing the homosexual agenda is the cost of being based in San Francisco (I think they actually have a city law there that amounts to this). Wells Fargo has been a known troublemaker in this regard for many, many years.

Thanks for the input------so then WF has to learn what SF wants is not necessarily what the rest of us want. The problem is their making. Not ours.

FOTF is using this as a publicity vehicle.

And your point is?

There is nothing wrong with promoting a positive agenda as a way to challenge a negative one.

FOTF doesn't "need" the publicity. But they do "need" to stand up for what they believe in.

Do you?

Cut the crap with the "do you stand for what you believe in". It's a hack question.

I go back to my original question, is FOTF truly going to a banking services company that does not support in any shape or form the agenda they find offensive, or did they go from one company that does to another company that does the same thing. It's very difficult to deal with companies that don't in some way support that agenda, especially large companies. Virtually all companies have diversity statements requiring tolerance. Virtaully all support through various outreach programs the same groups or similar groups that Wells Fargo likely does. What bank did FOTF go with and do they not have a diversity statement requiring tolerance and do they not support any charitable or other activism agencies that support the agenda they find offensive.

I've seen so many of these organizations pull this in the name of publicity when in fact all they did was re-arrange the deck chairs.

Seems to me, we Christians need to start our own bank. Being that 2/3rds of the wealth of the U.S. is controlled by Evangelical Christians, shouldn't be hard to do. Also, check out http://www.timothyplan.com/home.htm

" Wal Mart has been seen in TV reports' hidden cams as refusing to sell X-rated videos to underage teens."

I don't think Wal Mart sells X-rated videos at all. At least, my local Wal Mart doesn't.

FOTF is using this as a publicity vehicle.

I as a Christian am not going to do business with a company which openly supports immorality and it won't be because I want publicity.

Focus on the Family is not doing it for publicity .

Credit Unions are member owned and usually have better loan rates, etc.

Go to this shopping guide published by a national homosexual activist group and do business only with those companies they mark with red:

It's unlikely that such a bank exists, therefore you will be able to continue crowing about how FOTF is doing this just for publicity.

The rest of us know better.

That's my point. So how have they made a difference if they moved from one bank that supports something they dislike to another bank that supports the same issues or organizatinos.

FOTF has likely moved away from Wells Fargo (and likely for other reasons than the "official explanation" such as lower fees or some other cost concession or service factor), yet found a way to make some news by using the support of gay issues/agenda was the reason.

Balding Eagle in post number 35 to me states that such a bank likely doesn't exist. So why else would FOTF move their banking services agreement and somehow make news with the move?

There's so much speculation in here that it's impossible to see.
