"Give me a break, the cable industry is in collusion with the media conglomerates to get us to consume as much crap even if we really don't want it. I don't want my MTV and I shouldn't have to take the time to go block it or support it in any way. Echostar is the exception as they wanted to start offering smaller packages ala carte but Viacom had a shitfit and put a stop to it."
I don't particularly care which industry is in bed with whomever.......put me in the position of customer, and I will seek out the best product for my money and leave the rest to go broke if they can't catch a clue. If I then have to spend some time with my system setting up "favorites" so I don't have to surf through the crapola, it's no more than all of us have already done with our computers. What's the big hairy deal?
What really bothers me about this is the presumption that I need or even want to be protected from the big, bad TV programmers by that all-knowing bunch inside the Beltway. The most important and consistently-produced products from the Circus Maximus by the Potomac (outside of their own election/re-election) IMHO have been crass intrusions into personal rights, and I'm more ready to start yelling for repeal of some of that crap than look for another load.
I've still got my OFF switch, thank you very much.
