My mind blanked when I read this article. Have these people(the evacuees mentioned) gone completely mad?! I simply can't grasp it, it makes no sense. Why would people repay an act of total kindness with this behavior? To say that I am appalled is a gross understatement.:( This is what the "Great Society" of Lyndon Johnson and the Democrats has given us now 40 years later. The "entitlement" class of people. They are entitled to everything and you are expected to provide it. It's like slavery in reverse.

Exactly.
This type of behavior has been going on for decades in the projects and welfare neighborhoods. But it has mostly been kept out of sight of the general public. With Katrina however, the destructive and ungrateful behavior has been brought into individuals homes where people get first hand experience with what the welfare system has wrought. Maybe if enough of this happens we will begin to wake up that generational handouts do nothing but create laziness, ingratitude, and moral decay.
The welfare pushers do not want us to see the nasty side effects their entitlement addicts display. If we see enough of it we might be moved to put them out of business.

Double-Dog Dittos to what you both said! I was incredulous reading this, as you were, Mila. This is truly the Legacy of LBJ, as you said, A.! "Gimme, gimme, gimme -- what, is this all you're givin' me? I want more!" Makes me sick!
