WASHINGTON, Nov 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Bush's speech this afternoon in Arizona on immigration:
"What we need is not another photo-op, but real leadership. Democrats have worked hard, over the opposition of Republicans, to provide additional resources to the vital task of keeping America safe. Real border security, however, cannot be accomplished in isolation; it must be accompanied by bipartisan and comprehensive immigration reform.
"As we have learned from the President's previous forays to Jackson Square and the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, photo- ops cannot substitute for action or the President's inability to keep promises due to his weakened political standing. The latest plan by the President falls short by providing an unrealistic approach to temporary workers. It will not provide the reform that he promised.
"Democrats support comprehensive, bipartisan, and realistic immigration reform that will keep us safe, protect American workers, and reunite families."
She should be back home in California rolling up the red carpet that guarantees free welfare, health care, education and drivers' licenses to illegal aliens.
Bush could invent a septic system that turns the waste into an odor free fuel that could run in todays engines with NO pollution and the liberals and their shiney faced leader would find something major wrong with it. Send them all to SF.
*if she did, it would involve legalizing ad-hoc immigration from south of the border, and letting all persons who were born in Mexico and resident in the US vote in all US elections*
This is already pretty much the case in Southern Calif. Illegals form a major voting block for Calif. liberals.
...she just fills in the blanks.
"GW has a bad plan and Nancy has no plan. Well gee.... I guess we'll go with GW."
Um no. Just because the presiident has a plan doesn't mean it's the one we should go with. The President's plan is the perverbial pig with lipstick.
Here is the quote of the day from a Republican close to the White House from the new Time magazine (comprehensive is a euphemism for a guest worker program and probably some form of amnesty):"Bush decided to give these guys their rhetorical pound of flesh. In return, he wants a comprehensive bill, which is what he has always wanted. Hes just going to lead with a lot of noise about border security."
as wrong as she is....Hillary is an artful politician, Pelosi is just a mean spirited liberal munchikan whose agenda includes.......let's see.....NOTHING but villifying the other side....
LOL.......and I'm sure reading that far left a foul taste in your mouth....it did me......haha
ping
oh brother.
The democrats are a joke. For years they led by the likes of Ted Kennedy and LBJ are the ones who created the mess we now have by the laws they enacted. If true reform is ever to finally come it will not be from them.
absolutely
Pelosi is just miffed that she didn't get to outline the newly proposed billion dollar beauracracey.
The only way to curb illegals is to go after employers.
But then neither party would have an opportunity to spend.
" it would involve legalizing ad-hoc immigration from south of the border, and letting all persons who were born in Mexico and resident in the US vote in all US elections (without even a green card required.)"
She and her leftie co-horts have that plan in effect and working full strength already here in California. It's the only way they can guarantee they'll be re-elected.
"Democrats support comprehensive, bipartisan, and realistic immigration reform that will keep us safe, protect American workers, and reunite families."
Me too, Nancy! Except we probably disagree on how to keep us safe, protect American workers, and reunite families!
Yes, Nancy Pelosi has been a champion of "bi-partisanship." What a joke.
She offered an anti-plan...
Real border security, however, cannot be accomplished in isolation
Hmmm...If I refuse to buy rat poison, seems like I can pretty much rest assured that my cat, dog and kids won't accidentally die from ingesting rat poison...
Course we can take George's position and buy all the rat poison that's on the market...Store it everywhere, bedrooms, bathroom, dog house; and I will continue to tell my wife that the kids and animals are in no danger...
That IS different than Bush's plan...Bush wants to let all persons born in Mexico (who still live there) have access to everything Americans citizens have in America...
Pelosi's plan sounds better...At least she requires the illegals to live here...
And an example of this hard work would be ....... what? Voting for that $87 billion before voting against it? Raising taxes? Badmouthing Haliburton?
"What we need is not another photo-op, but real leadership."
What has Pelooser offered as "real leadership"?
Give me a break!
