If there are possible "fatal" side effects, then it shouldn't be on the market at all.
There are 300 to 500 reported aspirin deaths each year (taken as directed) in the United States.
When it comes to drugs, not all drugs are suitible for all people. I can't use statins for example ~ and every time you hear an advertisement about them they give you a warning about a "rare" genetic difference, etc., all of which is true. But should statins be taken off the market simply because they would probably kill me if I continued using them?
NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, ketoprofen, and tiaprofenic acid.
It happens.

Asprin, nuts, seafood and some fruits have all been shown to have fatal side effects for a significantly small number of the population.
Should they also be outlawed?
Just like aspirin!
Aspirin has killed many more people than this patch.
And death during pregnancy still happens. How many girls has the patch already saved?
In that case, you need to give up all forms of hormone-based birth control and, since all other birth control methods are far less reliable and pregnancy increases the risk of blood clots by a factor of twelve, you need to give up sex too.
We also need to ban peanut butter.
If that were the case, you would not even be able to buy bottled water.
Every drug, from asprin on up has possible fatal side effects.
Do you want to outlaw all medication?

Lots of medications have fatal side effects. I think almost everyone I've seen has fatal side effects.
That's what doctors (and pharmacists) are for. They need to look at an individual's medical history and see if they can safely take a medication. They also need to look at drug interactions.
The risks need to be fully explained to a patient beforehand so that they can make an informed decision.
Everything has possible fatal side effects. I don't think there is a drug known to man that doesn't list death as possible side effect.
That criterion would remove almost all drugs from the market you know.
