Freedom means being able to make bad choices as well.>>
Ah, the standard libertarian fantasy. "Let people make their own decisions!"
Libertarians are romantic Republicans; they think that mankind was born good and that civilization makes him bad. Wrongo. "Man is Born Good" is a slogan over every commie mass grave in the world. But Man is not born good; he is fundamentally evil, and needs society and law to live a decent life.
And one of those laws is to keep a certain green leafy substance off of the grocery store shelves so that stupid fourteen year olds can't all get stoned all the time. Deal with it.
You evidently didn't comprehend the phrase "... being able to make bad choices...". Bad means bad not good.
Does being elected to public office make a man good, or can greed, power lust and stupidity, evidence of the fallen, play a role in the genesis of statutes?
Is cannabis illegal because it's bad, or bad because it's illegal. And, if it's bad because it's illegal, which is the sum total of your reasoning, and man makes it illegal, what does that say about your ability to discern what is good or bad for your country?
Yeah..... How DARE we try to exercise that pesky thing called freedom!
Nothing like the taste of boot-polish in the morning, eh?

If people let government decide which foods they eat and medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.
---Thomas Jefferson
Fourteen year olds can easily find pot if they wish. They can also find alcohol or huff or any number of things. But we're talking about adults. Why can't adults use marijuana if they want to? Why is it the government's business? If the SC ruled sodomy is a protected privacy, why not smoking pot?
In reality, the evil of man is the reason the founders gave a limited government. They believed that no one was good and wise enough to exercise too much power over others.
Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the forms of kings to govern him? Let history answer this question....
A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.
Thomas Jefferson - First Inaugural Address
Well, that settles that argument. You are self-inflated tyrannical little s&I$ who is trying to play god for the rest of us. If your own life is a mess don't go crapping on everyone else's.
You really don't have a clue. You're not just mildly ignorant about libertarianism and medical marijuana...you're black hole ignorant. You also sound a heck of a lot like a DU troll trying his best to do a Fred Phelps imitation.
It is INTENDED that stupid 14-year-olds can't get stoned. It intends to deter by punishment. The intent of the law is noble, but in reality, 14-year-olds get stoned all the time, and the law serves only to make the price and profit high so that the providers reap great rewards betting that they won't be caught. Most don't get caught. If they did, there would be a lot fewer users. The real fact of the matter is that the number of users is so large that if you were to catch and jail all the users, there would be no space in the jails.
signed up in September? Trying to rile things up or are you just stupid?
Actually, ALL the libertarians I know think man was born bad--but they think it's far worse to let a huge, authoritarian government run by bad men be in control of everyone, bad or not, than have a few "bad" potheads running around loose. You folks are the romantics--you pretend big government doesn't work, unless it's the big government you favor, and then, government is doing some flag-waving-Lord's-work.
But you keep living in that fantasy world where the war on some drugs is a success. La-la-la, no huge, ineffective federal law enforcement apparatus here, nothing to see, move along now...
