And you can be damn certain that I will be a very hard sell on anyone asking for deferment if, God forbid, we institute a draft.

It means, according to the letter from the Governor, that the hope is that my services will not be needed, but the conditions of the world today demand of us full preparedness for any emergency.

That's up to the bureaucrats to decide. I will follow the guidance I'm given.

There must be different requirements for board eligibility depending on the district because according to
this site, one of the requirements is the following........
- Not a retired or active member of the Armed Forces or any Reserve component
To: Archangelsk
Discharged from reserves 13 years ago, and 49 years old now. Glad to come back, but I'll need larger pants now.
To: hole_n_one
I'm not retired or active.

A retiree is always subject to recall on active duty.

As a joke you should post over at DU about your new responsibility and tell them you would not even give Dick Cheney a deferment.
They would probably pee in their panties thanking you and call you a hero.

Congratulations!
The losers on DU were recommending people apply to be on the board a few months ago. Of course we know they have no nefarious purpose in mind.

Not now, of course, but if a draft did come back you would be making decisions that could tremendously impact an individual's life and the lives of his family. I know it might be uncomfortable thinking of it that way, but that's the reality. It takes a strong person to assume that kind of responsibility.
