Does this mean that Charlie Rangle actually voted NAY? I'm shocked.

Most people who use the forum for more than a day have been able to grasp the concept of going to the END of an ongoing thread and finding out what they need to know.

I really appreciate this "recap" thread. In the middle of the night, I did go to the end of the 7000+ thread to find the outcome, but it wasn't there, instead there was after event discussion. I assume the actual count was reported in the 5000-6000 post range, but we all don't have the time to pore over hundreds of posts. Maybe someone creative could develop a way to "capture" the part with the result of an action and always keep it at the end.

Pity the people with dial-up trying to find the result.

I watched the whole thing unfold last night, plus did a lot of time on that mega thread. What I do not understand, is during the actual vote, I seen 1 and then 2 votes for Yae on the republican side, then within the last two minutes of time remaining, both these votes disappeared and added to Nays... They can change their mind with these votes like that??

Confused Repubs. Too dumb to know if a yes or no was for or against the resolution.

They can change their votes as long as the voting is open.

I thought this was a useful and merited thread.

It was just a shame that we all had to read about you going on and on about how cross you are after you hijacked the thread.

I think there are more important things to get worked out about, old boy.

I've been looking for the vote total for 20 minutes - and where did I find it? Right here at the TOP of this thread.

Thank you.

Maybe the thread can be renamed to include "FINAL VOTE TOTALS ON IRAQ SURRENDER RESOLUTION"?

Does anyone know the name of the Congresswoman who during the dabate relayed a message from a military comander in Iraq: "Cowards cut and run, Marines never do."?

Betcha Jindal and Paul had sneaked out of town for an early weekend thinking they wouldn't be missed. Well, sometimes a surprise happens and something important actually does happen on a Friday in DC. They should have stuck around.
Frist ought to have used this vote tactic in the Senate when the losers there had the oil execs on the griddle. He should have proposed all those who were so concerned about the "little people" vote on whether the oil companies should give back 20% of their profits MATCHED by the feds giving back 20% of the profits it has made on gas taxes. I'd have LOVED to have seen the Dems vote on that one! Republicans ought to make the suckers vote every time they call the NYT or WP to gripe about something. We want them on record!

haha... When I saw the preview of this story, without paragraphs, it looked like the Dems had mustered 571 votes in the House.

'First it was dead voters,' I thought. 'Now they let dead Congressmen vote.'

I'm from Alabama. Who is this guy? I would like to write him a nice little note!

I went to the Congress web page on him and he wants you to put in a zip code before contacting him. So basicly he limits himself to only emails from his area (unless you happen to be in his district --7th-- )...

As for his name, here is a little trick for you to use in the future... right click your mouse on the picture of him and select properties.. in the URL it will have "Artur Davis" embedded in it. I use this trick all the time to see who/what some FReepers have posted pictures of (if I am out of the loop).

Isn't this great! The GOP finally made the RATs put their money where their mouth is and almost all of them flinched. AWESOME!

And as the news reports paint this as a Republican set-up or political stunt (straight from the traitors' talking points), the media's unfailing devotion to the loonie left and incessant hatred of America and her troops will once again be highlighted.

Sometimes the spin just isn't going to make any difference.

It's like trying to spin that it's not going to rain when a hurricane is overhead.

"Do you people who post these threads EVER look for another ONGOING thread to post this on?"

9:00am the next day I'm glad I can log on and find how it turned out quickly instead of wading through thousands of posts on the live thread.

Calm down. What are you worried about? Cutting down trees for the bits? Geeez. Live threads are not for discussing final results. I wanted a headline when I woke up today. Do YOU people ever miss an oppty to complain about not FReeping your way?

Here comes the spin: From AP: WASHINGTON - The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by the Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.

Hmmm. Maybe the resolution should have been "to not demand withdrawal" and voted "for" .
