That's where you are wrong. The anti-war left was handed a hero by the Republicans and your partisan-tinted glasses won't allow you to see that.
No, "WE" do not want to withdraw.
OK, we can exclude you, but I think most Americans would like to see the Iraqi adventure come to an end sooner rather than later, as polls seem to indicate. We will withdraw. It is inevitable. A democracy like ours is not going to tolerate perpetual war. The momentum is building and the Republican leadership in the house, playing hardball you so admire, just gave the Dems. a new, and credible leader to rally around..... on a silver platter.
All you're doing is repeating erroneous garbage. So, why don't you just go back to DU or whatever anti-war site it is that you are getting your talking points from; you troll?
All I'm doing is calling it as I see it (in keeping with your baseball metaphor). I disapprove of the political tactic. That's all. Shouldn't oughta call me names.
Murtha is a putz. He got humiliated this evening.
"A new credible leader"...just like Tom "Deeply Saddened" Daschle, Jean-Fraud Kerry, Howie Zowie Dean? How long did their "hero" Jumpin' Jim Jeffords remain in their good graces? Murtha has served his purpose, and now will be discarded like the rest.
"The anti-war left was handed a hero by the Republicans and your partisan-tinted glasses won't allow you to see that."
Your mask is slipping.
You're getting close to outing yourself obviously for everyone to see.
"OK, we can exclude you, but I think most Americans would like to see the Iraqi adventure come to an end sooner rather than later, as polls seem to indicate."
That should about do it.
You mean the double and over sampled pol.ls run by anti-American places like CNN, Daily Kos, and CBS, right?
"A democracy like ours is not going to tolerate perpetual war."
We are NOT a democracy, we are a representative republic and that was STILL taught in school when I went to school.
And, who said anything about perpetual war except DEMOCRATS?
"All I'm doing is calling it as I see it (in keeping with your baseball metaphor). I disapprove of the political tactic."
The 'political tactic' was the Dems ploy, son.
The Rhetoric and Hyperbole was the Democrats, son.
The political stunt was pulled by the Dems, son.
THEY called for this, and they got their bluff called.
You ARE a Dem looking to feel us out, aren't you.
A screwball wiccan named ferret used to post here. Your writing style strongly resembles his.
"...and to the republic for which it stands..."
Umm...
Most Americans also wanted WWII to end too. But that didn't mean they wanted to cut and run. The GOP brilliantly gave the 'Rats the opportunity to put their money where their cavernous mouths were. And..heh-heh..they cut and ran.
Also, if the 'Rats want to coronate this rambling Murtha sack of taters as their new spokesman...well, then..it's a double victory.
Hey, isn't Bev Harris going to reveal her proof of vote fraud soon if you send her more money? / Sarc
What "name calling", troll? YOU ARE A TROLL! A statement of fact is neither an insult nor name calling.
"PERPETUAL WAR"? Let me see if I get your logic....
Staying in Afghanistan is NOT "perpetual war", but staying in Iraq, until it is more or less settled is " PERPETUAL WAR". Is that it?
We've been in Germany and Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea for 50.
We're still in Kossovo, but your hero Clinton said that we would be out of there by Christmas...he just didn't say which year.
You think that Joe Wilson is some kind of national hero.
You don't like the GOPer's tactics tonight.
You think that Murtha is now the anti-war movement's new HERO cum LEADER.
Yep, YOU are a damned troll; not to mention factually challenged and politically tin eared!
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...the Dems were given a real credible leader to rally around...THAT'S WHY ONLY THREE OF THEM VOTED YES TONIGHT. ROTFLMSO

"Those poll numbers are sexed up" -YOU
" as polls seem to indicate. " -YOU
So which is it, are the polls sexed up, or what?
And you are SO zot material.
..."A democracy like ours is not going to tolerate perpetual war."...Just curious, at what point did OP Iraqi Freedom become a perpetual war?

You also claim that there weren't any drones, yet Iraq launched two during the war, and the Deulfer report lists a few that our troops came across.
http://www.foia.cia.gov/duelfer/Iraqs_WMD_Vol3.pdf
Also, more than one chemical artillery shell was indeed found in Iraq.
Mustard gas shells and Sarin shells.
Remember the Sarin shells rigged as IED's?
St. Chuck is right here, you two will find his post 7762 most amusing.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1425385/posts?page=8#8
You will also find his claims from the above linked post vastly amusing as well.
IT always has been the aim of the Pentagon to withdraw as soon as possible.
Caving in to this "peace thru appeasement" crowd is far too dangerous: think how many MILLIONS of lives could have been spared if the great "peacemaker" Neville Chamberlain had stood up to Hitler when "der Furher" invaded Czechloslovakia. Hitler could have then been defeated--but because of the political lack of will to stand up and face reality, the entire world suffered a tragedy that Churchill called the "unnecessary war"--because it could have SO EASILY been averted if the Allies had done more than just wring their hands about Hitler.
Tonight the Pubbies did not "go wobbly" and forced the Dems to play a losing hand. I am proud of them, no matter what the Dems do or say in the next few days. It was time to call the Dems' bluff and it felt good to watch it.
The vote to not stop the war will send a good message to the troops--and that is what really makes me feel good. Murtha will be no hero to them, no matter how much he says he cares about them. He is waving a white flag over their heads while they are still in the heat of battle--and that is despicable! Now the Congress has said "No Way" to Murtha--and that is the message that will reverberate past the beltway to around the world. HOOAH!!!
"I think Mr. Wilson did a great sevice to our country..."
"Mr. Wilson did not tell any lies in his July 6, 2003 essay"
"All this other stuff about possible inconsistencies in later publications of Mr. Wilson are really collateral issues"
"Mr. Wilson's contribution was to expose the overreach of the administration"
"I oppose the war for the reason that it has created a blind loyalty to a duplicitous government leadership"
"I do regret that Mr. Bush chose to invade Iraq on this premise ("to free 26 million Iraqis")"
A Joe Wilson apologist and a peace-at-any-cost, throne-sniffing mendicant. You're a small man after small ideas, Chuck.
That is why we left Germany, Japan and Korea decades ago!
Part of winning a war is setting up stability, and if you do not see the need for it in Iraq and the greater good it could do in the long run in the region then you have blinders on.
If we allow the region to continue down the path it was going before the war there will be even a greater mess with much greater repercussions for the world. Whether you like it or not, the koran teaches its adherents perpetual war until the world is conquered, perpetual war is upon us, as a saint you of all people should be prepared.
