Immigrants from Europe didn't EXPECT handouts as a matter of right...didn't EXPECT food stamps....didn't EXPECT FREE anything....they followed the laws for immigration, and worked for their food, legally, paid their taxes, and spent their hard-earned money in the communities where they lived, not sending out of the country, en masse, which is not putting back into their local communities which bear the burden of educating their youngsters, policing their neighborhoods, etc.

BTTT

They also paid for their own medical care. I grew up in a community full of Italian and Slav legal immigrants, proud people who didn't want a cent from the government, and who became productive members of this community. They ALL learned to speak our language too, without any bilingual instruction.

The current crop of illegals are an unbelievable drain on our communities because they know our government (both parties) will force us to support them.

My father-in-law came from Sicily. He had to learn English in America, when he arrived at the age of 16. He was a barber. Because of him, some of his siblings came to America, later on, and they ALL learned English and have done very well in America, working hard.

My father-in-law appreciated the value of a dollar, and was responsible with his money, earned as a barger.....he bought, with outright CASH, the homes he lived in later in his life. He worked until he literally couldn't any longer....and that was not too long after his wife of almost 60 years died....He was also a generous man.

He didn't believe in credit, never borrowed nor expected a dime from anybody...he had too much pride for that.

I married into a family of such immigrants that lived in LA. They all learned English. But here’s the irony. About 1980, before the last failed amnesty, the Mexican “immigrants” started arriving in mass. My inlaws owned some clothing stores and had to not only perfect their English, but now their Spanish. Those immigrants, who came here properly, now have to learn English and Spanish! It’s nuts. And damned unfair.
