Thanks, Tx, for the infor re: what Clinton said in Israel ... I avoid listening to whatever he has to say, so I missed it.

He is what he is and will always be that ... a delusional sociopath who worships at the Altar of Self.

I remember way back when, after the Khobar Towers bombing and Clinton's absence of response, realizing then that he was giving the terrorists an open invitation to take us down.

Churchillbuff and the others who want what he wants wish to return to that Clinton doctrine.

I'd rather have a Cowboy in the White House.

And that thug in Venezuela could use a good dose of pimp hand, too.

Also .. this is the bill that Kerry tacked on the amendment about the secret prisons and wanting to know who is in them, where they are and status reports to the Senate Intel Committee

That is correct. Details follow ...

Kerry amendment, S.AMDT.2507 passed 82 - 9 in Record Vote No. 318 on November 10, 2005. The Kerry amendment was amended by a Roberts amendment, S.AMDT.2514 by unanimous consent.

SA 2514. Mr. ROBERTS (for himself and Mr. ROCKEFELLER) proposed an amendment to amendment SA 2507 proposed by Mr. KERRY (for himself, Mr. REID, Mr. BIDEN, and Mr. DAYTON) to the bill S. 1042, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2006 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe personnel strengths for such fiscal year for the Armed Forces, and for other purposes; as follows:

In lieu of the language proposed to be inserted insert the following:

SEC. __. REPORT ON ALLEGED CLANDESTINE DETENTION FACILITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS CAPTURED IN THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM.

(a) In General.--The President shall ensure that the United States Government continues to comply with the authorization, reporting, and notification requirements of title V of the National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C. 413 et seq.).

(b) Director of National Intelligence Report.--

(1) REPORT REQUIRED.--Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of National Intelligence shall provide to the members of the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives a detailed report setting forth the nature and cost of, and otherwise providing a full accounting on, any clandestine prison or detention facility currently or formerly operated by the United States Government, regardless of location, where detainees in the global war on terrorism are or were being held.

(2) ELEMENTS.--The report required by paragraph (1) shall set forth, for each prison or facility, if any, covered by such report, the following:

(A) The location and size of such prison or facility.

(B) If such prison or facility is no longer being operated by the United States Government, the disposition of such prison or facility.

(C) The number of detainees currently held or formerly held, as the case may be, at such prison or facility.

(D) Any plans for the ultimate disposition of any detainees currently held at such prison or facility.

(E) A description of the interrogation procedures used or formerly used on detainees at such prison or facility.

(3) FORM OF REPORT.--The report required by paragraph (1) shall be submitted in classified form.

Job is done when...
1. Zarqueeri is dead. (I must see his head, lying, bleeding, his eyes rolled back, propped on his back)
2. Zarwahiroshima is dead.
3. Borders are under control..i.e.less than 100 a day coming over.
4. We are able to detect and neutralize IED's.
5. Iraqi forces can maintain the peace.
6. The government is run 100% by elected officials.
7. No American soldiers can be seen patrolling in any city.
8. I reserve the right to add to this list as situation changes.

How many more years must American troops be in Iraq?...
1. As many as it takes to accomplish the above.

Why didn't you call me "chamberlain" when I opposed Clinton's invasions of Haiti and Africa...
1. I didn't know you then, Sir. :O)

"McCain's strategy is to attach the amendment to bills that will be hard for his colleagues or Bush to reject. He tacked it onto a Pentagon spending bill that contains all military funding, including for the war in Iraq. He also attached it to a bill that authorizes Pentagon programs for next year. "We will win sooner or later," he said. "I will not quit."

McCain's playing dirty here with the military funding and giving the Dems ammo if the bill gets held up at all.

He really is a snake in the grass.

Buddy, can your "Islamofascist" claptrap. We've just set up an Islamic Republic in Iraq. That's what your tax dollars are paying for.

The President was referring to the toppling of Saddam with his "end to major combat" statement.

As far as the "Mission Accomplished" statement, it was the Commander of the ship (USS Lincoln) that had that banner put up. THEIR mission WAS accomplished. Thank you very much!

ANYONE who saw that speech on that aircraft carrier knows damn well that sign was up to signify that THAT carriers mission had been accomplished.

I'm just reading this thread for the entertainment value, but that's a new one on me.

I'd have to re-read the speech. Personally, in retrospect, I think it was a PR blunder. But then, monday morning quarterbacking is easy.

But seriously, I am not clear on the difference betwen McCain's new proposal and status quo. Torture is ALREADY illegal under US law.

Ooh. That's good. I hadn't thought of it like that.

Dude, the problem is the US public doesn't know who we are fighting in Iraq or why. That is by far the biggest problem I see.

Nailed it.

In other wars, it was easy to tell who the enemy was. Japanese, Germans, British. The enemy wore a uniform, talked funny, and in general looked differen than us.

In this war, the Iraqi that your training to take over the security of his country, looks, sounds, smells, and has very similar religious beliefs to the guy who wants to bomb your barracks.

Not an easy job. Not one that I would be willing to do.

I don't either. What he's proposing is already there.

It has to be that he thinks it will pull votes from the left for him. He's gonna need them because I don't think he'll get that many from the right.

I'm not that trusting. In the back of my mind, I'd always be thinking, "Did I just give a weapon to a terrorist or not?"
