What I don't understand is, who is it they think will vote for them? The Democrats will be voting for the Democrats .......
Is this more of the SOROS Republicans???
The GOP doesn't want to lose the Senate and the House next year, so I'm not surprised if a number of them are saying that at some point the US has to bring the troops home.

Very short sighted. This has been the least costly, most visibly successful war we have fought in over 100 years. The American people aren't as stupid as the media and the politicians. We overwhelmingly support winning this war, and we won't accept a cowardly retreat under any circumstances.

Gee, I wonder what they will do if the rivaling Iraqi political factions don`t agree to any compromises? What if they can`t work it out? This sounds like a John Kerry plan.
I checked Rush's website, but I couldn't find any statement about it. However, I did a search from the News/Activism thread - Soros - and several articles came up. I glanced through them, and I did see McCain's name mentioned several times - so you may find something there.
McCain isn't mentioned anywhere in there. It's Warner and Frist who introduced that.
I am glad you mentioned Clinton's ineffectiveness in handling the terror problems...
It seems that he hasn't changed much...he still is in la-la land when it comes to terrorism...
There is a new thread that is about a speech that Clinton gave in Israel today...in the speech he tells the Israelis not to waste time worrying about the speech the new head guy in Iran gave...where he calls for wiping Israel off the map...
Clinton told them that he "really didn't mean it"...he is really a good guy that wants economic security for his country...

FTR I was responding to the second portion. And surely you've seen plenty of posts that this police action should carry on to Syria, Iran, etc. as well. Or are we denying such statements? I really can't keep up with RNC talking points

There was a direct personal donation of $1000 in 1999. Since then, the connections are tangential. Easy to find, just google the two words "McCain" and "Soros" in one search.
It's costing more than a billion dollars a week. One of the reasons we're looking at tax increases in the future -- instead of the further tax cuts that ought to be happening. I'm an old-fashioned conservative who believes in less government spending, not more -- and part of that means not spending billions and billions on foreign adventures that aren't essential to our security. I'm consistent on this : I also opposed Clinton in Haiti and Africa, and I'm against most foreign aid. We need more freedom at home - - that should be the top priority for a conservative president. Lower taxes, less spending, stronger property rights (end eminent domain abuse), respect for life, less unnecessary regulation on businesses, fewer inane environmental rules. I want freedom in America. But for a lot of freepers, that makes me a "chamberlainbuff." In my book, they're old-fashioned FDR (or LBJ) liberals.
Well this "newbie" has an answer for you. I'm here to tell you that the US Military will be TOTALLY out of Iraq before I get to read even ONE intelligent post from you on FR.

True enough, except this poster is pretty single minded. It's usually Iraq=Bad all the time. the deviation was over the Judiciary battle when, predictably, tried to go after Roberts spinning Souter II at a theater near you. basically this poster takes the issues mattering most to us, and strongest to the administration, then trashes them. Pat Buchanon isolationist, maybe, but pet troll most definitively.

They could reject both. They don't *have* to do anything. Be nice if they'd pass the authorization act, and leave the carping to separate bills or resolutions. You don't support the troops by delaying authorization to buy their beans and bullets, and issue their paychecks.
Geez if these Dems and RINOS had been in Congress in 1942, we'd all be speaking German and/or Japanese. (East and West of the Rockies respectively I'd imagine.)

More name-calling. I guess I'm striking some nerves - - When people can only call names, it lets me know how shallow their thinking is. I know, it's hard to defend spending approximately $60 billion of our hard-earned tax dollars on a war against a 3d world country with a 5th rate military, that was less of a threat to the US than Cuba is --- so I can understand why, instead of offering arguments, folks like you resort to name-calling.
PRoblem is, more and more Americans have come to realize that Iraq wasn't a threat to US security. Bush has acknowledged 1) they didn't have WMDs and 2) they weren't involved in 9-11. No wonder at least half of Americans, according to all the polls I've seen for the past three months, now say the invasion was a mistake.
