Imagine if they posted a list of everyone who had an abortion!!!
I'd be easy to spot wearing my "BACK OFF, I'M PACKIN" T-shirt.
I can think of at least 55,000 people who should write letters to the FCC demanding this broadcaster's license be taken away the next time it is up for renewal.
"Yet, statistics show violent crime actually decreased with Florida's right to conceal, depending on who you believe, anywhere from seven percent to 40 percent."
Hehehehe... "Actually decreased." Can you believe that? Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
OK. But ya'll still haven't addressed the issue -- do YOU think the Brady anti-gun crowd just MIGHT be involved in this, somehow???
NRA should publish the names of the news crew at this station who don't carry guns. Guess which list the criminals will use when planning their next job.
Carrying a concealed weapon is considered a right in Florida. The license costs about $100. If you're 21, can shoot and have a clean record, chances are you qualify.
If carrying a concealed weapon is a right (presuming the individual is not a criminal), why are they required to pay $100 for that right, and why do they need a license?
Ping
OK. Here ya go news media. I'm Keith and I'm packin' too. In fact, it's a S&W .40. Go ahead. Tell who ever you want.
Possible? I'd say "likely."
WFTV is full of baloney. What possible good can come of publishing such a list?
My God, local TV news is such a disater area. The writing stinks, the news judgement is dreadful, the weather report has been stretched into its own little saga, and sports reportage has now morphed into a 10-minute segment of screaming and shouting.
I no longer watch the stuff.
congrats to the 55,000. they will now be even more safe from criminals.
Maybe I am dense, but I don't see in the article or the immediate links within the article where they actually published names of concealed weapons holders. The title of the thread is "Central Florida TV station publishes names of concealed weapons license holders" and the title of the actual article is "Orange County Leads Area In Concealed Weapons Licenses" but I don't see where the names (other than a couple of gun store owners) is published. I am not a big fan of WFTV, but I watched the video and it is not particularly anti-gun or pro-gun.
But I am off topic a bit. The title is a non-sequitur from the content. I don't see where it "publishes names of concealed weapon holders"
They should come to Alaska. It would be safe to assume that every car carries a firearm, probably a 44 magnum pistol.
The major papers in Fla. should headline: "Everyone in Fla. IS going armed! Crimminals get OUT of Fla. while you can!" Be a real public service.
The benefit to society by allowing non-felonious citizens to possess firearms is summed up in John Lott's well researched first book "More Guns, Less Crime". I'm a Florida resident and although I don't have a concealed-carry permit I do possess a revolver. Florida, as many know, has been ravaged by 8 hurricanes in the last 14 months. One reason we've had no looting or anarchy (a la New Orleans) is that (and I've also been told this by police officers) potential looters are aware that Floridians are ready and able to defend their lives and property. My own community was ravaged by three of these hurricanes. Immediately following each we were literally in darkness - no power, no utilities, no phones, etc. The local police were unable to conduct any patrols. I personally loaded my .38 Special and was prepared to defend myself if necessary. Relative to the subject of your post which is about people who have concealed-carry licenses being mentioned in a news broadcast, I say "so what?" This is part of the state's public reords and domaine information. In fact, I'd prefer that it was known that I had such a permit. The more a criminal element is aware of how many are capable of resisting their criminality the less likely they'll be to attempt to perpetrate crime - especially now that we also have a law that permits us to preempt crime in advance in any life-threatening situation. Of course the anti-gun lobby will try any scare tactic but in the end it won't work. Why? Because as on every occasion when Florida expanded the 2nd Amendment rights to law-abiding citizens violent crime was reduced. Eventually tourists will see that Florida is SAFER. So -- to all you snow-birds I say, "COME ON DOWN.." Incidentally I can tell a personal story about when I lived in a state with the strictest gun-control laws as contrasted with here.
