She seems a perfect example of an 'adult child'. They're raising more of the same. Her kid(s) will be even worse, led by example. Few people stand up to this type, so they think they're in the right (the logic: nobody's disagreeing with me, so everyone must agree with me). More American rot, from lack of caring cultivation.

I think the biggest difference between parents of today, and of yesteryear, is this: forty years ago, when a kid misbehaved at school and was punished, the parents would discipline the kid again. Nowadays, it seems the parents pretty much automatically take the kids' side against the school.

Agreed. Most public school administrators cringe when the typical parent 'speaks' with them about a child's recent school discipline. A great many parents are disrespectful, loud, angry and unwilling to hear a truth about their child. Parents just like the one in this story. I'll wager we'd hear stories of similar child/parent behavior from the kid's teachers.
