You can't really be that naive. Abstinance fails because the human will can be weak. Not everyone is a pillar of unwavering moral strength that can't be corrupted. Mere mortals can be tempted, and unlike Christ, mere mortals fail as often as not.
Finally, someone that understands that teenagers are people and do not have a fail-proof 'off' or 'on' button regarding the intensity of the 'moment' and who understands the fundamental, sinful nature of humans. Thank you.
Well, that would be a failure of self-control or human nature not abstinence, wouldn't it? In the words of a great American, "abstinence works every time it's tried." The fact that it's not always tried is not the failure of abstinence.
But I can see where those who benefit from children not being encouraged to practice abstinence would want to shift the blame.
Then it's no longer abstinence, is it?
If a condom fails, it's still a condom. If a human life was aborted in the womb, it still was a human life. But if someone fails to abstain, they are no longer abstinent.
