The lies about the war have been percolating for a long time.
I think possibly this might be the unintended consequence of the advice early on that we, the public, should go on about our lives. I think it has mostly engendered a denial of reality, fed our penchant for escapism. Our pop-culture is replete with enticements to run away from reality. Too many people give more attention to Desperate Housewives then our soldiers. And the Left has taken advantage of this fact. Others have already pointed out the solution: stay on message and repeat it. Repeat it every time the camera is on. And keep repeating it. Keep the left on defense.

Agreed. If we are at war, we should act like a country at war.

A common analogy used with President Bush is the poker analogy. My theory (and I hope it proves correct) is that the President has had "the cards" for some time. He is right about the war, has the "nuts" concerning the dems' statements of support for the war before we went in. Iraq is beginning to rule itself in a democratic fashion, and will undertake more and more of its own defense. The dems, libs and press have put themselves "all in" with their unfounded attacks. They cannot deny their position now. The time has come for the President to "call" them. He is beginning now to lay out the cards, and he has a winning hand. Of course, the libs will try to pull their chips off the table before the President can collect them. This he cannot let happen....
