The large majority of the public forty years and younger wouldn't know the reference without the thought completed. I'd give 3 to 1 odds that when the two headlines were tested to a mailing list that the complete-thought headline would pull a larger response. Probably by five times or more response.

after making my post, i looked up chappaquiddick on wikipedia. just to read up on it, though i already know the story. the chick at the computer next to me said "whats that? chappa what?" so i told her to read it. she's a lib, but she was in shock at Teddy's actions.
