If we returning Vientam Vets had had Freerepublic.com at our disposal to combat the media lies WALTER CRONKITE & DAN RATHER were telling that American People about what we were doing in Vietnam...

You may mean an example like " The Wall Within", a "documentary" shown in 1988, just before elections, by CBS and no other than Dan Rather.

Rather searches and finds six Vietnam vets who are still suffering because of the unspeakable atrocities they committed in Vietnam.
This "story" went on for a full hour.

One BIG problem. It was all a FRAUD, or perhaps a "forged" story.

B.G.Burkett(no not that Burkett), in his book, Stolen Valor, tracked these "vets" down....and you'll never guess....5 of the six had never been to Vietnam, and the 1 who had was never in combat.

When Burkett confronted Rather with these facts, Rather's response was...you guessed it....WE STAND BEHIND THE STORY.

Thanks for that, Bob -- it's mind-boggling! I was not aware of that scandalous incident and I'm blown away that a fraud like that could be exposed and CBS could still get away with it.
