Having just written a post repeating my standard complaint about the GOP not confronting leftists, I will support Bush a bit.

I think Bush laid low because his numbers are down and his taking a high profile in places like California and NJ would only have done more damage. And he has been in this position before. I remember when he was interviewed by Russert and expressed confidence he would be reelected. His numbers were so low and everyone thought Iraq was ssuch a disaster that Bush's confidence was viewed as irrational. So he can still come back. But the lame duck status creates new challenges taht I think require him to be more aggressive.

I feel for the guy. it's one hell of a job he has... but my country is in the fight of its life from within. When I saw him take full responsibility for NOLA... and then pick Miers... I knew he was spent.

My prayers are with him.
