I don't think your post represents both sides. It is very one-sided.

Wal-Mart knowingly hires illegal aliens. They also caved to pc sexual orientation policies.

I used to always defend Wal-Mart. I'm not out to get them now. But if they get eaten by the left, you won't hear a peep from me in defense.

Ok, I have to step in here. The illegal aliens associated with walmart that I have seen in the news has been associated with contracting companies.

And, unfortunately, I have not worked for a large company in recent history that has not had spanish only speaking employees doing their cleaning, etc. Those employees work for a contracting company, not the actual large company.

It is wrong, but standard operating procedure in this country today. And if you are going to boycott every company that you perceive is doing that, I suggest you got into the back woods, grow your own food, produce your own heating fuels, make your own clothes, and turn off your elecricity & internet access, because I can guarantee you that those companies are associated with companies that have hired illegal aliens.

Wal-Mart "knowingly" hires illegal aliens.

They said the investigation involved allegations that subcontractors for the world's largest retailer had recruited illegal immigrants, mainly eastern European nationals, to work on cleaning crews at Wal-Mart stores. Many of those arrested were coming off night cleaning shifts at various Wal-Mart locations.

Arrests have been made in 21 states, with most of those coming in Pennsylvania and Texas, officials said.

The other states are: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

The latest arrests stemmed from two prior investigations by federal immigration officials involving contractors and Wal-Mart stores, one in 1998 and the other in 2001, a law enforcement official told Reuters.

"Wal-Mart uses many third-party contractors for cleaning services, and we do require all workers to be legal. We are talking to the INS and we are cooperating with them," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Sharon Weber told CNN/Money.

"If a company knowingly hires illegal workers, it can be penalized up to $10,000 per person," Garrison Courtney, a spokesman for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told Reuters.

Federal law enforcement officials told CNN that information from an undercover investigation revealed that some Wal-Mart executives and store managers allegedly knew about the immigration violations>

My friend owned a successful cleaning service for banks and other secure businesses before 9/11 (I reference to the dates above). She was very cautious, and very thorough to screen all the backgrounds of those she hired, paid an excellent wage and had little turnover (often there would be a reference involved for the next hiree ); but when she did, she would always check their backgrounds. That area had a very high number of Hispanic population. She had clients who demanded the most careful screening of job applicants. She would call the state [Illinois] to verify their ss# numbers and would be told that was information they could not be handed out.[That has since changed] You can't just look at an Hispanic person and decide because they are working in this type of service oriented-job, they are illegals as you cannot look at a person with no prior offenses and determin he or she will act in a sexual harassment capacity after hired.

Wal-mart employs close to one million employees;of course abuses will pop up here and there considering the numbers involved and the easy target it is. It's also the number one most sued retailer in the United States. (of course). Wal-Mart has always cooperated with investigations fully(let's be fair-sort of like Bush and friends). National Organization for Women NOW is one group that charges "allegations" of sexual harassment and calls them a Merchant of Shame. There are many activist groups that follow suit.

One Million workers! Let's just replace all human workers at Wal-Mart with robots aka robotic technology and fire all humans. Think we could do that in Government as well? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I will not join the boycott for those reasons. Also remember as I said 10% of goods come from China. Let supply and demand dictate who buys what in this country. Neither you nor I should dictate the way the next person spends his or her OWN money.

Hey, if I see gross misconduct on the part of top level executives, then they step down or the Board fires them for the good of the SHAREHOLDERS.(Afterthought: I think I am in one of my mutual funds, although I am not a dyed in the wool Wal-Mart shopper). Therefore, I will not boycott the loss of jobs of one million workers.
