It's all about where your heart is on the matter; who are you intending to honor?

In other words, Christ or Santa Claus?

I would agree with that. If a Christmas tree helps you focus your thoughts on the birth of Christ, then great. I remember when I was a child, most of the ornaments on our tree were of a religious nature, very much keeping the focus on what Christmas is about. It seems that these days, almost anything goes if you want to hang it on the old Christmas tree.

A number of years ago, my wife and I decided to do something different. Instead of a Christmas tree, we have a manger scene as the focus of the holiday decorating at our house. When we place presents on the floor near it and around it we remember the kings of the Orient bringing their gifts for the newborn King. Works for us.

Also, just so you know, I don't go around telling all our friends at church and such that they shouldn't have a Christmas tree because you can trace the roots of decorating trees to pagan customs. I'm not a total freak.....yet. :-)
