I saw a good bit of West Virgina from the deck of towboats running coal from the mines to the power plants along the Monongahela River. It could be very pretty around sunrise out on the head of the tow, three hundred feet in front of the boat, gliding along almost soundlessly, with the mist rising off the river, slipping between those mountains, covered with trees cloaked in their brilliant fall colors.
I also had a girlfriend who transferred to the University of West Virgina from Carnegie Mellon, probably because her parents wanted to get her away from me. It is not too far of a drive down to Morgantown from Pittsburgh, especially when there is a good looking girl waiting for you with open arms.
