Amazing that 73 is so controversial - 53-47? Gosh, a lot of Californians think their minor daughters shouldn't have to let their parents know if they are seeking abortions, but at the same time know that they need parental PERMISSION to go on a school trip or get a cavity filled.

Precisely. You can't take anything stronger than an aspirine, vote or drink alcohol without parental permission, yet you CAN have an abortion?? It's insane.
It's genuinely whacked.
it's not our daughters. it's someone elses. If a 16 year needs one, just as well.
I honestly don't think most people in California see 73 as particularly controversial. It is just that anything at all that encroaches on abortion availability is seen as a slippery slope in this state.
or probably even to have the school nurse dispense an aspirin to them for gods sake!
