I've heard the at Mecca in the pilgramage area they worship a black rock that fell, a meteorite. Anybody know the truth of this and the meaning?

Correct.
I've been there, seen the rock. There's a cave underneath the rock that the Muslims believe was created as the earth tried to keep Muhammed from ascending to heaven.
Archaeologists believe it was the place where the bones and residue from the animal sacrifices were temporarily stored for the Jewish Temple rites. I don't remember if they said the cave was man-made or not.

I think that Freud would say that there is obvious symbolism here.

"He felt that paganism was holding the Arabs back from joining the great civilizations" -- well, he certainly was right on that.

Except the A-rabs believe Abraham was going to sacrifice Ishmael. And that the Dome of the Rock was NOT built over Solomon's Temple. And that....

Black Rock is the name that PNC assigns to all of their own investment funds. That's a scary thought.

If you mean the Kaaba (spelling) it isn't a black rock. It is a "room" shrouded in fabric, and that fabric is black with a bunch of phrases from the texts of the quran. Originally it was an isolated home (like "The Holy of Holies" that shrouded the "Ark of the Covenant") that housed the pagan gods of the pre-islamic faiths. The first thing the prophet did upon Reentering Mecca was to enter a sacred place, and draw out the idols of the various gods of the people and destroy them. He then placed the symbol of the Islamic faith in their place. Since he was not struck down, CLEARLY he was the courier of the true god as he said.
I think that is the story of the "black rock" you think you are referencing.
