Paris riot curfew threat
08nov05
FRANCE will impose curfews in its city suburbs "if necessary" to curb riots that are raging across the country, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said today.
He also said 1,500 police reinforcements are to be deployed to restore public order.

France should be called before the UN and made to explain the reason for this horrific act! How dare France act unilaterally.

OK...and once you proclaim a curfew (if gets to where you think it's necessary) and the rioters continue their intifada and dodge the police using the same tactics they're currently using then what do you do?

The curfew is a good idea. They should also cut the electricity, water, gas, phones and any other utilities, stop all food deliveries, and stop the "cheques".

Ah, they should give them another week or two to settle down. No since in rushing into things like curfews.

In all seriousness, what France needs now is the modern day equivelant of "armed resistence" fighters from WW2..get out there, whack a few of these rioters, then disappear into the night..never know when or where they'll hit..use the same tactics..if the French Army/Foreign Legion/Police won't act, someone sure needs to..IMO

The curfew is a good idea.If they can't stop riots, how will they enforce a curfew?

Yeah, looks like France is bringing out the Big Gun! One of the earlier articles I read mentioned the police fear of 'heavy weapons'. Turned out they were talking about handguns and a shotgun.
They'd piss themselves if they saw what I had in my safe.

tell them they're on "double-secret probation" and threaten to get really, really mad if they don't quit.

Now that is what you call getting tough! Wow, if you conquer a significant portion of a country, light it on fire and begin killing its law enforcement, it might lead to a curfew... If necessary.
France's reaction to this crisis is simply astonishing.

Vilepine is just about ten minutes from being really, really pi$$ed. Curfews, what's nest, being sent to your room without supper?
