Scant coverage in the U.S. media.

Had riots been occuring in the U.S. on 100th the scale, you would have endless wall-to-wall coverage on every U.S. media outlet and there would be calls for Bush's resignation.

What are the rioters in France going to do when the run out of cars to torch?

Exactly almost 3,000 cars torched in 2 nights and riots in a score of cities in a country 1/5 the size of the US in population and hardly anything on American TV or in the papers.

They probably ran out of real cars days ago, and have long since started on Citroëns and other Froggie toy cars...

The US media rarely reports much about things that happen overseas. The only reason Iraq has gotten attention is that we are there.

US media is self centered, sensationalized and devoid of anything that might interest anyone with more then a public high school education. It is meant as the circus for the dim masses. Why else is the news of a school teacher's disappearance or a drunk college girl's disappearance the most important thing on TV? Where is world news? Gone. Where is economic news, only on such a level as to give the dim consumers a feel good to keep going into debt. Where is the indepth political debate on issues? Ehh, to boring, sound bites are much better. The dim masses can't comprehend more then a sound bite anyways. /sarcasm
