My father and uncle are still around; though I think they'd find it even harder for them to scale the cliffs at Normandy.  Perhaps there's a wheelchair path there now!

They saved France from itself before, they'd probably volunteer to do it again.

First, God bless that generation and what they did.

But there is a real danger here. There is a right wing in France and it's growing. By right wing I don't mean falsely labeled conservatives - I mean the kind of people who would have cheered the Nazis except they hate Germans too.

They had a viable Presidential campaign last time around and if they take over France, their strong anti-semitism and lack of respect basic individual rights will make wish we had Chirac back.
