No it never did disband, this is why the French lost in Indochina. They could have beaten the Viet Minh on the battlefield but they lost the will to fight at home, sound familiar? Remember, Ho Chi Minh lived in France during the 30's. This is where he found out all about communism. All of this is tied together.

I lived in France in 1950 as a military dependent. I can remember the French spitting on my fathers car.

Sorry to take so long. Went for a walk with hubby in my nice free (so far) country, the good ol' USA.

Thank you for the info about the underground. I did not know about the French Indochina war. Or I was not paying attention in class. I do remember Ho Chi Minh living in France, and that brings us back to John Kerry and the French Connection. Weird. Very Weird.

My brother lived in Ville for 10 years. Stationed with the United States Navy. He is fluent. I'm sure this upsets him. He made a lot of wonderful friends there.

C'est Domage!
