Terri told her friend that she was going to pretend to be asleep when he came home. Pretending to be asleep and walking around doesn't make sense. HINO's still lying about many things but maybe not about finding her in the hall if he had help.
She merely told her friend that she'd be awake. She may have changed her mind, or more likely, just nodded off. That would be perfectly normal. This was the middle of the night, after all. Indeed, it was probably several hours before Michael got home -- the more reason to think she just fell asleep. No new story needed here.
How she got out to the hall is unknown. One obvious possibility is that Michael, nursing his grievances from their fight and coming home in a rage, dragged her out of bed. Or, he may have waked her up and carried on the argument until she said, "Michael, leave me alone, I'm going to sleep on the couch," and he followed her.
