"I question their not for profit status. It is a ruse."
I question Hospice's non-profit status too, FV. They not only get medicare monies but also donations from grateful family members who probably have no idea of the hedious things they do. After what happened to Terri, I seriously question the methods and motives of all Hospices.
In my area of the country, over the past several months, a Hospice has been advertising using the words - A Hospice you can trust. Makes me wonder if people all over the country are no longer trusting Hospices like they once did.
There is a culture of prodding and obeyance. The hospice workers do not automatically do what needs to be done for those in their care.
PRODDING AND OBEYANCE and only if it's by the health care surrogate. Should not hospice here do their jobs automatically to make the patient comfortable? They are lucky to get a shampoo or their teeth brushed. I doubt that Terri was the only one there who didn't have clean hair or teeth.
I think they should be investigated, preferably an undercover ops.
