If he does that now, then lots of innocent students would likely have to go to public schools. I have to say that they'd probably be better off at public school. They'll be spoon fed the moral relativism and the rest of the secular garbage that permeates our schools but it seems as though that's already happening at Loretto...with the implicit imprimatur of the Church.
When a couple of nuns send the message to impressionable teenage girls that there's nothing wrong with volunteering at an abortion clinic we've got trouble. And now, not only have they defended the character of this pro abortion activist but they've labeled the pro life Catholics as extremists and they've punished them for being Catholic. To a 15 year old girl this is sending the message that abortion is at worst morally ambiguous and perhaps permissable. And they're getting this message from the Church itself...the 'good' sisters running the school.

"The Holy See refers to the Pope"
Thanks, I'm well aware of that - what I meant was I don't know whether there's any operational control exerted over this kind of school or whether it's always been a purely nominal kind of oversight. But it sure sounds like there needs to be some serious oversight!!

I admit I do not know this Bishop, and since so many FReepers vouch for him, I guess he's O.K.
The firing of the teacher is a good beginning.
The persecution of the courageous Catholic student is a disgrace.
I'm sure the good Bishop knows there is more than one way to skin a cat. ;)

You're absolutely correct...it is truly a disgrace, and these nuns are a scandal.

Mama's the one who forced the issue with the bishop.
How awful of her. Rooting out dissidents is a very laudable action, if you ask me. Kind of like rooting out phony clerics.

It's not personal. It's just an observation. You find fault with everyone except the abortionmonger. Or did I miss that condemnation?
It's an accurate observation.
Hey Sinky, you're still kind of iffy on Humanae Vitae aren't you?

The students forced out of this "Catholic" pro-butchery brothel would at least honestly know that what they are up against in the public schools, rather than be taught Satan's works under the guise of Catholic education in this one.
I agree 100% and will write the bishop and the principal a letter to that effect.

After her daughter discovered the teacher's pro-abortion activities through her OWN pro-life activities, and after the mother first informed the school and was ignored.
