Mr. Chertoff needs to hear from us.

Mr. Chertoff does not want to hear from us. He showed up in El Paso today tooling around with a bunch of hotshots from Border Patrol and the El Paso County Sheriff.

Today.

Exactly ONE day AFTER our border watch operation ended. Then he blabs on about "the border is a dangerous place," and patrolling it is best left up to law enforcement officers. Chertoff also said he "did not know the Minutemen civilian patrol had spent a month in the El Paso region." Hell, if he didn't know we were there he was the ONLY DHS fed that didn't know. He didn't WANT to know and he didn't WANT to meet up with us cause we had that Clint - Fabens - Tornillo - Ft. Hancock region CORKED! Even the Juarez paper printed "if you came here to cross you are too late, the Texas Minutemen are here."

If he will lie about that and go to such great lengths to avoid us, he has a hidden agenda IMNSHO.

3 employers were fined in 2004 for hiring illegal aliens, I'd say we need alot more "interior enforcement."

DHS will be getting right on this. (Ha!) From post 8:

Workplace Enforcement: DHS will implement an employer self-compliance program that will link government and business in a united effort to reduce the employment of unauthorized aliens in specific industries.

That may smell like B.S. but I'm sure it isn't. /sarc

Interior Enforcement

DHS will strengthen interior enforcement efforts to target those who enter illegally by unequivocally enforcing our laws and making sure that removal is achieved. Strong worksite enforcement is key to effective interior enforcement. DHS must be able to ensure that employees are in our country legally and are properly authorized to work.

Given the pathetic performance of the Bush Administration in the past 5 years in this aspect of our law it is almost impossible to take Chertoff at his word.

In his otherwise tough statement, did anybody else notice how carefully he avoids the concept of employer sanctions? In other words, ICE is going to occasionally show up at a worksite like they have been doing on Military Bases for the past couple of years and round up 30 or 40 illegals but the employers who hired the illegals are going to get off free just like they are now.

All this tough talk about enforcement is just the sham part of the shamnesty. As soon as the guest worker and amnesty provisions are enacted, the enforcement will quickly be forgotten.

Enforcement first!

Since the events of 9/11, President Bush has placed ever-increasing importance on immigration control, including border security

Is that like "ever-increasing" from 0% importance to 0.00001% importance?

Emperor Bush has no clothes when it comes to securing our southern border. We're being sold a bill of goods again.

What a load of crap. My local police dept. has been ORDERED by the feds to let go any illegal caught who does not have a arrest warrant.

More lies from the RINO's.
