This may be somewhat off-topic, but I think the comparison needs to be made. Back in the 1960's, race riots in Baltimore, a lot of the city was torched and looted. It really was a war, just incredible destruction and violence. Baltimore has a section of town called "Little Italy" with many great Italian restaurants, bakeries, shops, churches and homes. "Some people" back then arranged to have Mafia hit men on the roofs of Little Italy with sub-machine guns with orders to shoot any torcher or looter who attempted to come into the neighborhood. The police knew this was going on and didn't stop it. Little Italy had NO damage whatsoever and not a shot needed to be fired. It was one of the very few neighborhoods which came away from that period unscathed. :)
If they had tried to torch Sabbatinos, it would have been all out war!!!!
Interesting.
Reminds me of a friend who lived in the D.C. area when the sniper was killing people. They lived near on one of the interstate entrance/exits and two of the killings had happened nearby.
People were beginning to wonder about going out for gas, etc. Eventually some of the menfolk got together and said if this keeps on, let's organize some citizen patrols to watch the gas stations, shopping areas, etc. for suspicious activity. (It was clear the sniper was setting up before shooting, not doing it drive-by.)
Of course, they would be armed.
The sniper was caught before it came to this, however.
