Rather, I believe that public school science classes should focus on teaching students how to understand and critically analyze genuine scientific theories. Unlike biological evolution, "intelligent design" is not a genuine scientific theory and, therefore, has no place in the curriculum of our nation's public school science classes.

thank you! thats a point I am always trying to make to creationists and it goes in one ear and out the other like wind through a desert.

Personally, however, I do have a personal philosophy about creation that is a close match to ID. I just dont think God created the minds that we have only to tell us "don't use them."

Unfortunately you misunderstood - that quote was from : Senator Edward Kennedy on Intelligent Design. As such, I want no part or credit for it. My view is far less socialistic :-) I believe Evolution and ID can duke it out in the education system just fine on their own without government intervention -- especially judicial intervention. Furthermore, the will of the parents of the children being educated supercedes any scientific purists' will on either side of the equation. If the parents in a particular community wish their children to be taught the world is made of snow, I have no problem with that. Let them find a teacher who will fill that need and I, simply, will not allow my children to attend that school. The same goes for the opposite side of the coin where God is removed to spare the feelings of the scientific purists. My children will not be subject to their self-glorification either. As you, I believe there is a happy middle ground wherein God as a proud parent enjoys our intellectual exercises.
