I just can't see Gyllenhaal as a US Marine. I can't decide if his casting in this movie is better or worse than casting Owen Wilson in Blackhawk Down.

I think you're thinking of Behind Enemy Lines - Navy pilot shot down over the Balkans. That definitely was an odd role for him.
