"Anyone else wonder if that whole Miers thing wasn't "laying smoke" for what may turn into the mother of all battles with the 'Rats...as well as a flanking maneuver on the right-wingers to make sure they're with the program???"
Yup. It was too convenient. The Miers nomination smoked out the RATS which fired up the Right.
Watch now for the DNC talking point that Miers did not get a fair up or down vote. Doesn't matter that she never made it into committee.

This is a rumble worth having. This is the rumble Bush was hired to carry out, win or lose...that's why the Miers nomination was such a disappointment to his supporters. Glad to see things are back on track.

..I still can't shake the suspicion, JimRob, that Ms. Miers was Laura Bush's nominee.
Whether or not it is true, it is behind us and over the horizon. The upcoming battle is one we have been waiting for since 1980.

According to the Moonbats over at DU, the Bush administration is the smartest, most devious bunch of incompetent idiots ever to run the WH !LOL!!
For my feelings on Alito, please see my newly-constructed tagline. ;)
I cannot WAIT for the hearings. BRING IT ON!

No... conservatives would have wholeheartedly supported the Alito nomination regardless of the foregoing circumstances.

It's nice to have someone who knows how to fill out the forms and write legal opinions.
