This fight will do nothing but give the democrats painful tummy aches for MONTHS to come, and when DeLay is proved innocent and restored to the Majority Leader of the House, they'll be in even bigger trouble.

All true, but the biggest tummy ache in Washington today belongs to Lincoln Chaffee. He is caught between a rock and a hard place. The good news is that he cant politically vote against Alito, but he cant vote for him either. He loses, no matter what. He will lose his reelection to either a Republican or Democrat, but he will lose either way because of this vote he must take.

Do you think he might obstain? I mean, two Pubs did that on Ginsburg. He may just obstain, or have some "pressing" matter that precluded him from being on the floor for the vote. 8) That would be convenient. Wuss. I hope he gets replaced. The Republican Majority is really only about 50, at best. The RINOs are totally unreliable and untrustworthy.

Chaffee, Collins and Snowe are most likely the most conservative senators that could possibly be elected from their very blue states.

We are lucky to have those three as a full blown socialist would have that seat instead if we ran a hardcore conservative. Those three might not vote in lockstep but they do a lot more often than a democrat ever would.

The guys to be mad at are the moderates from Red states. Linsdey Graham is a prime example. What the heck is a red state like South Carolina doing with a moderate?

Chafee has to take this one step at a time. His safer course of action is to vote AYE on Alito and get past the primary.
