I was just going to type, "GretchenM says Prince Charles is terrifying," then I read your post.
Altogether, the future of Britain after QEII ... it makes me happy for them that they realized that the absolute monarchy thingy wasn't working.
The happy couple:
What would bother Charles even more...is ifsomeone would whisper in his ear...that there might not be a single thing that mankind can do to halt the evolution of weather on this mighty planet. If "IT" wants to change the weather pattern...it can do so on its own. And that ought to put tremendous fear into the hearts of any liberal...that they might be in a ice age in less than 150 years.
Hi ya, Ray. You need a haircut:')
Good one.
"Charles said he was concerned about being seen as irrelevant"
Sure took him a lot of years to figure it out!
It does add new meaning to the term "political science".
All life is constantly at war with nature; nature's default state is desolate hostility.
About every 10,000 years nature covers tself with a frozen blanket and an uneasy truce ensues just long enough to rid the earth of the greater number of its parasites.
Then, when the blanket is lifted aside, the war begins anew.
Prince Charles is terrifying. He married a horse. And he is cheating on it or her, whatever. What me worry shut up, you lost America in the Revolution. We don't want to hear your crap.
Polo dangerous?, here in California 70 year old's play this most dangerous sport!!And quite well too. But to be able to buy the best trained polo ponies on the planet is half the game, and I used to read about the cost of PC's string
Now Bull riding, that dangerous!
"He's such a girlie man."
I'd say Camilla looks more like a man than does the prince. He should stick to something he's good at like awarding prizes for the best rose at the Chelsea flower show.
From the United States Polo Association web site:
" 2500 year-old game of polo is one of the fastest, roughest, and most dangerous sports played today. It is gaining increasing popularity as a premier spectator sport and can be an easy game for the first-time spectator to enjoy. Imagine the excitement of seeing players on thoroughbred horses bumping and jostling with each other as hockey on horseback, racing at top speeds down the field while striking a small ball with the precision of an experienced golfer."
"Valuable for training Calvary, the game was played from Constantinople to Japan by the Middle Ages. Known in the East as the Game of Kings, Tamer Lane's polo grounds can still be seen in Samarkand.
British tea planters in India witnessed the game in the early 1800's but it was not until the 1850's that the British Calvary drew up the earliest rules and by the 1869's the game was well established in England."
And this from CNN (every once in a while they probably get something right):
"A keen horseman and polo player, Prince Charles has had a number of equestrian injuries over the years.
In June 1990 he fell during a polo match and was kicked by a horse. His right arm was broken in two places. The break did not heal properly and the arm was reset three months later.
Three years later, he was hurt again during a game of polo when he aggravated an old back injury.
In January 1998 he broke a rib after falling from his horse while fox hunting, and in January of this year, he fractured a bone in his shoulder when he fell off a horse during a hunt."
I agree with you about bull riding -- you won't ever find me on one of those.
Thanks, and welcome to FR!
