Once both National Review on Line and the Weekly Standard were opposed, Limbaugh, Coulter and and Will drove the stake into the heart of this nominee.

She withdrew herself while the President stood behind her. Pretty much says it all.

"...She withdrew herself while the President stood behind her. Pretty much says it all...

Don't forget Limbaugh and Bjork participated in a big TV buy that targeted Miers as unqualified.

None of the cognoscenti would wait for the Constitutional remedy of a Judiciary Hearing and an "up or down" vote. When Senators Brownback and Graham caved and asked the impossible rather than forthrightly opposing her, there was little left for her to do.

Bad manners, bad judgment and bad politics IMHO. By the way what ever happened to the "up or down vote" --guess it just applies to the pundits now.

She withdrew herself while the President stood behind her.

but what was her defense?

I never saw ANY defense other than "I am Bush. I know her for a long time. Trust me."
