Willa Hill sneaked $2 from a stepsister to help her runaway brother.

When the 11-year-old Calumet City girl argued with her father about what she'd done, the 6-foot-4-inch, 260-pound Charles Hill beat the girl for as long as two hours with a TV cable and the buckle-end of a belt, killing her, authorities said.

"There was no way for this girl to protect herself," Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Christine Opp said through tears Friday at Hill's bail hearing.

"The only way to protect his (nine) other children is to keep him away from society."

Cook County Circuit Judge Thomas Condon denied bail to Hill, who was charged Thursday with murder and child battery.

"We're thanking God that he can't get bail," said Willa's aunt, Deana Gilbert.

Opp read from an autopsy report that likened the injuries on Willa's buttocks to something that "only happens in high-speed crashes," and showed the judge photos of the girl's stomach marked up with belt-buckle imprints.

No they don't. They are ostracized and shunned but there is no "jailhouse" justice meted out on them. I did time in three different prisons and I never saw it happen even once. The only times guys were beaten by other inmates was because of a personal slight, gang related or a contract hit. If anything, the child predators will catch hell from the guards than they will from other inmates.

It is situations such as this which makes me question those Freepers who rail against childless couples and call such couples heartless and other derogatory names. Many of these same Freepers will be ranting about this beast. Some people should never have children for whatever reason.

Children don't ask to be born. They come into the world helpless and are programmed to trust their parents to take care of them until they are able to do so themselves. To read of that trust violated in the most profound, horrific manner is heartbreaking. I hope she finds peace where ever she is now.
