What baffles me is why Libby couldn't just tell the truth. Plame was NOT covert.
I agree. According to the indictment, Libby found out about Plame's work status from Cheney, not Russert. I don't doubt that Libby was trying to spare Cheney from any kind of embarrassment. Libby probably recognized immediately that the prosecution was a partisan hack job. But Libby's lie was a misguided effort. In the end, it made things worse. Our Sunday school teachers were right: It is always best to tell the truth.
I'm really bummed out. I thought Wilson or Miller would be indicted. Seriously.
Yeah, agreed. But there's an interesting wrinkle to this story. Apparently, prosecutor Fitzgerald allowed Miller et al to come back and modify their stories after he had caught them in obvious lies. So the question remains: Why did Fitzgerald allow Miller et al to slide on a perjury rap, while solely targeting Bush Administration officials? In my opinion, Fitzgerald gave Miller et al a pass in order to snare at least one Administration official. What an utter travesty. Our tax dollars at work. Again.

This whole thing stinks and I think we need to start a Libby Defense Fund! This is a man that has served our country with integrity and distinction and any conservative worth their salt will not let him hang out to dry! His defense will cost him at the very LEAST... 1 MILLION DOLLARS!! What say you Freepers?
