WOODWARD: I think one of the things that's fact that hasn't come out is we talk about...
KING: Uh-oh, here it comes!
WOODWARD: No, no. And this is not even a firecracker, but it's true. They did a damage assessment within the CIA, looking at what this did that Joe Wilson's wife was outed. And turned out it was quite minimal damage. They did not have to pull anyone out undercover abroad. They didn't have to resettle anyone. There was no physical danger to anyone and there was just some embarrassment.
So people have kind of compared -- somebody was saying this was Aldridge James or Bob Hanson, big spies. This didn't cause damage.

He tried to give it to Dodd but Dodd wouldn't take it!
This is on LKL right now.
He's really giving it to the liberals, Isikoff, Gergen, and Dodd.
The libeals REALLY want this to be about the build up to the Iraqi War.
Read the whole transcript!
Hmmm, sounds like tomorrow might not bring what everyone thinks it's going to bring.
I'm listening for it now!
OMG, how embarassing for CNN...........LOL.
Oh, Woodward has spoken so I guess it's time to bow to the god he is </sarcasm>.
Seriously, this guys 15 minutes were up decades ago.
Yep, and if Bob Woodward knows this, so does Fitzgerald.
It was a great moment. Isikoff covered for Dodd by saying there wasn't a formal report but rather an interpretation by the CIA of what Wilson reported.
Alan Dershowitz said the same thing.
Woodward tried to give it to him and he wouldn't even take it!
Yes, he did. Right that second, I knew they were all on the same page and they're DYING for it to all be a big conspiracy at this White House.
I'm sick of these people acting like they know what goes on in that White House.
Well, I meant the spelling..........LOL.
It wasn't an affidavit. It was a brief. Meaning it was an argument, not a fact.
CYA the MSM sold their soul for this story and know they will try to cover their backside.
"He tried to give it to Dodd but Dodd wouldn't take it!"
Well, at least Connecticut has Lieberman.
"Isikoff covered for Dodd by saying there wasn't a formal report but rather an interpretation by the CIA of what Wilson reported."
That's because Wilson wouldn't commit a report to paper.
From the same interview, read this statement by Lindsey Graham:
"I want the Senate to give respect to the nominee. I expect a conservative. But the politics of filibuster is bad for this country. It's bad for the Senate. It's bad for the presidency and I hope the president will pick who he believes in and we can't turn over the nominating process to the extreme to the right or the left because the law protects us all."
Can you believe this clown?
Wilson is/was an ambassador, not an intelligence analyst..
He was debreifed, and probably answered a lot of questions that didn't even make sense to him..
Analysts took his debreifing and went through it, correlated it with other evidence / intelligence, and came up with a conclusion..
It was not necessarilly the same conclusion that Wilson made.
He only knew what he heard or learned.. ( or thought he learned.. )
The CIA analysts aren't going to take his experience as gospel.. It would be double checked against other sources, then checked again..
Decisions would be made whether all or part of Wilson's report stood up to scrutiny..
There is a good chance that Wilson was simply allowed to think what he wished and allowed to make statements about it because the CIA didn't think his conclusions were anywhere close to the truth..
We don't know whether any mention was made of Libya, or Moamar Kaddafi..
We don't know if evidence was shown that Libya or Egypt had bought yellowcake..
We DO know that Iraq at the very least "made inquiries" concerning yellowcake in Niger.
Here's something else we know..
Libya suddenly decided to give up it's Nuclear Weapons Research / WMD program directly after Iraq's invasion and subsequent humiliating defeat..
Kaddafi became "exceptionally" cooperative..
Libya turned over all WMD research and materials.. ALL OF IT.. They also turned over the head of the Libyan WMD nuclear weapons project.. A prominent Iraqi Nuclear Weapons Scientist..
Information was also disclosed that Egypt was partnered as a financial contributor to the Libyan WMD research effort..
But the main point is, Iraq's Nuclear WMD research was not taking place in Iraq, but in Libya..
So there you have it..
In retrospect, what Wilson "thinks" he knows may not be real.. May not be the truth.. Wilson may not have the facts correct, even though he helped, unwittingly, to supply the facts..
Joe Wilson may never know how much "good" information he brought back from his trip to Niger.. Up to and including the lies he was told.. ( and those he believed.. )
But information he brought back may have been useful to the CIA in determining the truth..
And, the CIA, and even the President, may not want the world to know just how much they know..
Valerie Plame Wilson most assuredly would not put her husband in danger, and she surely knew he was going to make certain statements and allegations concerning his Niger trip..
She may have been fairly sure ( certain? ) that what he was stating to the world was either inacurrate or misleading in such a way that it would not compromise security.. and may possibly give a false sense of security to certain parties ( Libya, Egypt, Niger ) who thought they had pulled the wool over the eyes of America..
Being his wife, she surely knew what he was going to say beforehand.. She would not have put his life in danger if anything he was going to say was "classified" or would jeapordize national security.. She would have told him to "sit down and shut up" in no uncertain terms..
( This is a woman who, according to a CIA academy classmate, was intimately familiar and expert with an AK-47, and could kill or maim without hesitation.. If she said "NO", it would mean "NO"... )
Note that the Iraqi government is gone.. And a new one established in it's place..
Libya has given up WMD research/development and has begun a new era of cooperation and detente with America and Europe..
Egypt has begun the implimentation of more democratic involvement of it's people, and even had elections.. ( a start, not the whole Magilla..)
As for Niger, I've not heard anything concerning them, but one can assume that every ounce of "yellowcake" is being accounted for, in triplicate.. ( with Uncle Sam looking over their shoulder..)
When one looks at the results, rather than the allegations, one gets a whole different picture..
Didn't hear anything about State Department. It ended with Isikoff saying he'll make the announcement tomorrow afternoon "and he'll do it himself".
