"Who assasinated her character?"

Oh please. You can't be serious.

Sorry, but "not qualified" is not character assassination.

I have been on a ton of Miers threads, and the personal insults against her, at most, have been kept at a minimum.

In fact, I can think of none that I remember seeing.

No one assassinated her CHARACTER; it was her qualifications or the lack thereof. Have a nice day!

"Who assasinated her character?"

Well, just this morning we had a thread devoted to the idea that Ms. Miers probably had a secret abortion when she was young because after all, she was a child of the 60s.

When she was first nominated, the knee-jerk response from people who knew absolutely nothing about her was, "She's pro-choice."

Then the talk immediately turned to the idea that she's gay because after all, she's never married.

Then there was the poster who declared Ms. Miers to be a fornicator becaue she's had a long-term close friendship with, gasp, a man.

And yes, the "she's not qualified" line is character assassination when it comes from people who haven't a clue about her qualifications, people who decided they wanted her to be unqualified and set out to find something, anything, with which to discredit the lady.
